On behalf of the WCD2011 Organizing Committee, it is my pleasure to invite applications for the ILDS (International League of Dermatological Societies) Scholarship Program which will provide financial assistance to a number of dermatologists from developing countries and leading young investigators who wish to attend the 22nd World Congress of Dermatology, which will be held from May 24 to 29, 2011 in Seoul, Korea.
Our goal is to provide approximately 400 educational scholarships, 145 of which will go to dermatologists from developing countries (Program 1) and 205 to residents and fellows (Program 2). The remaining scholarships will be provided by third party organizations such as the American Association of Dermatology (AAD) and International Society of Dermatology (ISD). Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on recommendations from local ILDS member societies.
Applicants will be categorized into three regions: 1) Asia, 2) Europe and Oceania, 3) Central & South America and Africa. The amount awarded to scholarship recipients will be USD 1,000 in Asia, USD 1,500 in Europe & Oceania and USD 2,000 in Central America, South America and Africa, which will cover accommodation and some travel expenses. Registration fees will also be waived.

* Countries for Program 1 fall under the upper middle income category, according to classification by the World Bank list of economies in July 2009. Economies are divided among income groups according to their 2008 gross national income (GNI) per capita, calculated using the World Bank Atlas method.
Each applicant must be a member in good standing of his/her local ILDS society. In order to be considered, applications and paperwork must be received by the WCD2011 Congress Secretariat by August 31, 2010.
*Note: No payment is necessary at the time of registration. Registration fees will be waived by the Congress Secretariat upon receipt of the scholarship application.
